A Statement of Faith is a written declaration of a ministry's position on matters regarding the essentials of historical Christianity. Traditionally, these statements begin with the “I believe that…” statement. However, in today’s culture, “belief” has a negative connotation that denotes an idea rather than a firm unshakable and unchanging foundation. The following statements make up my Statement of Faith.

Scripture

I KNOW THAT...

  • The Bible is true in all the original autographs and is divinely inspired, inerrant, infallible, supreme, and sufficient in everything it teaches. Its authority is not limited and its assertions apply to all aspects of life.

  • Deut 4:2, 12:32; 2 Tim 3:16–17; Rev 22:18–20

  • Scripture does not return contradictory claims; the interpretation of Scripture can be confirmed by only Scripture itself.

  • Prov 8:8–9; Matt 12:3–5, 19:4, 22:31; Mark 7:13, 12:10, 12:26; Luke 6:3; 2 Cor 4:2; 2 Tim 3:16–17

  • The Word of God contains all things necessary for our salvation; it is expressly and clearly taught in its 66 books, from the Old to New Testament writings.

  • Gen 1:1, 1:31, 3:17–19; John 3:14–18; Acts 16:30–31; Rom 3:23, 5:1-2, 5:12, 6:23, 10:9; 1 Cor 15:1-4; Eph 2:8

The Godhead

I KNOW THAT...

  • There is one God Who is self-existent, eternal, and infinitely perfect; the Creator, Sustainer, and Ruler of all things.

  • Gen 1:1, 2:1–4; Deut 6:4, 33:27; Ps 22:28, 103:19, 147:5; Isa 40:28, 45:18; Dan 5:21; 2 Sam 22:31; Neh 9:6; Ecc 12:1–6; Matt 5:48, 28:18; Mark 12:29–34; John 1:1–3; Rom 16:26; 1 Cor 8:4; Col 1:16–17, 2:3; Heb 1:1–3, 9:14; 2 Pet 3:9; Rev 1:8, 4:11

  • The Godhead is one God manifested in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each fully God, their glory equal, and their majesty co-eternal.

  • Gen 1:1–2; Matt 3:15–17; John 1:1–3

  • The Triune God spoke into existence (created) the heaven and earth, time and space; all things seen and unseen, living and nonliving, material and nonmaterial, for His glory alone.

  • Gen 1:1–2:3; Exod 20:11, 31:17; Isa 46:9–10; Neh 9:6; 1 Tim 1:17; Col 1:16; Rev 22:13

  • The Triune God reveals Himself in Scripture as the male gender and leverages masculine pronouns and titles such as Father, Son, God, King, Priest, and Prophet.

  • Ps 5:2; Matt 28:19; John 14:26

Jesus Christ

I KNOW THAT...

  • The Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, took on human flesh to be fully man without ceasing to be fully God.

  • Luke 24:39; John 1:1–3, 1:14, 1:18, 3:16, 8:58; Acts 2:22; 1 Cor 15:47; Phil 2:5–8; Col 1:16; Heb 1:1–3

  • The Son of Man was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of a virgin; He was born without sin and lived a sinless life, fulfilling the whole law that we could not.

  • Isa 7:14, 53:4–6; Matt 1:16–23; John 8:29, 8:46; 2 Cor 5:21; 1 Pet 2:21–22

  • Jesus Christ willingly went to the cross where He died a death He did not deserve in order to fully credit His righteousness from His account to satisfy the sin debt of those who have faith in Him.

  • Matt 1:16–23; Luke 1:30–31; John 19:30; 1 Thess 1:10; Heb 9:11–12, 10:12–14; 1 Pet 1:17–19; 1 John 2:2

  • The Messiah rose from the dead bodily, ascended to heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father, where He intercedes for those who picked up their cross to follow Him until He returns in the flesh to this earth as Judge of the living and the dead.

  • Acts 17:31; 1 Cor 15:3–5; Eph 1:17–23; 2 Tim 4:1; Heb 7:25

The Holy Spirit

I KNOW THAT...

  • The third Person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit, convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; He is the Spirit of Life that regenerates life through the baptism of all believers into the body of Christ, where He indwells and is sealed within them unto the day of redemption.

  • John 16:8–11; Rom 8:9; 1 Cor 12:12–14; 2 Cor 3:6; Eph 5:18

  • The Holy Spirit's work as the Convicter of Sin and Revealer of Truth is required in order for sinners to repent and believe in Jesus Christ through the message of the gospel.

  • Rom 8; 1 Cor 2:6–14, 12:3; Titus 3:3–7

  • The Holy Spirit is the Indweller of Believers who takes up residency in the regenerate heart to guide, comfort, direct, and produce spiritual gifts and fruits of the Spirit.

  • John 14:16–17; Acts 1:8, 4:31; Rom 8:11; 1 Cor 3:16, 6:18–20; Gal 5:22–23; Eph 2:19–22

Man

I KNOW THAT...

  • Mankind is created in the image of God and consists of two genders—male and female; both these two distinct genders intentionally complement one another and are made in the image of God.

  • Gen 1:26–27, 5:2, 9:6; Matt 19:4–6; Mark 10:6; 1 Cor 11:7; Jas 3:9–10

  • Mankind's creation was instant and supernatural, not originating from any pre-existing life form. God formed Adam from the dust like a potter forms clay, while God subdued and extracted Adam's rib like a surgeon to fashion together Eve to symbolize the spiritual union between male and female, husband and wife.

  • Gen 2:7, 2:21–23, 3:19; 1 Cor 11:8–12, 15:47–49

  • God values human life more highly than any living thing, He knows each and every life intimately, and He declares all human life as sacred (from the moment of conception). The incarnation of Christ says that an unborn child at the moment of conception has inherent worth and value because God sent His Son into the world through conception by the Holy Spirit in the womb of a virgin. Therefore, abortion of an unborn child or the intentional taking of human life through euthanasia or assisted suicide constitutes a violation of the sanctity of human life and is a crime against God and man.

  • Gen 9:6; Exod 20:13; Deut 5:17; Psa 51:5; 1 Cor 15:49; Jas 2:11

  • God created only one race of mankind—the human race; all people alive today are descendants of Adam and Eve, who were the first human beings, and subsequently Noah, whose family repopulated the earth after the flood.

  • Gen 1:26–27, 3:20, 10:1, 10:32; 1 Cor 15:45–47; Luke 17:27; Heb 11:7; 1 Pet 3:20; 2 Pet 2:5

  • God made humans in His image; thus, all humans have equal dignity and value regardless of age (including the unborn), gender, skin tone, ethnicity, religion, intelligence, physical ability, or other characteristics.

  • Gen 1:26–27, 3:20, 11:9; Acts 17:26–28

  • The concepts of "social justice," "intersectionality," and "critical race theory" as defined in modern terminology are destructive to the well-being of humanity because it is antithetical to God's creation and established order.

  • Ezek 18:1–20; Jas 2:8–9

  • God ordains the responsibility of children to their parents, commanding parents to instruct their children in the ways of the Lord and by demonstrating themselves as consistent examples of godly morality, virtue, truth, wisdom, and proper admonition of the Lord.

  • Deut 6:6–9; Prov 22:6; Eph 6:4

  • Legitimate marriage, sanctioned by God, is based on the creation ordinance in Genesis 1-2, which declares marriage as the joining of one naturally-born man and one naturally-born woman in a single, exclusive union as delineated in Scripture.

  • Rom 12:9

  • Sexual intimacy is a gift from God given to a man and a woman who are united in marriage; therefore, any sexual activity engaged outside of a marriage between a man and a woman constitutes as sexual immorality. Sexual immorality includes but is not limited to adultery, fornication, premarital sex, prostitution, homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography, sexual abuse, any attempt to change one's gender, or disagreement with one's biological gender; these are all sinful and offensive to God.

  • Gen 1:27–28, 2:24; Matt 5:27–30, 19:4-5; Mark 10:2–9; 1 Cor 6:9–11; 1 Thess 4:3–7; Heb 13:4

  • Gender and biological sex are determined at conception; they are coded in an individual's DNA and cannot be changed by drugs, hormones, or surgery. The rejection of one's gender and biological sex or the identification as the opposite sex is a sin as it rejects God's sovereignty in the creation of that person.

  • Gen 1:26–28, 5:1–2; Psa 51:5, 139:13–16; Jer 1:5; Matt 1:20–21, 19:4–6; Mark 10:6; Luke 1:31; Acts 3:19–21; Rom 10:9–10; 1 Cor 6:9–11; Gal 3:28

Sin

I KNOW THAT...

  • Sin entered the world as a result of the direct rebellion of Adam, the first man, and Eve, the first woman, against God's commands and purpose for mankind, that they would be His special representatives on earth. This entrance of sin serves as the basis for the necessity of salvation for all of mankind.

  • Gen 2:7, 2:17, 2:22–23, 3:6–20; Rom 5:12; 1 Cor 15:45–49

  • All forms of evil present in the world are a direct consequence of mankind's perpetual sinful nature; this includes but is not limited to: physical and spiritual human death, death of other living things, disease, bloodshed, suffering, natural disasters, etc.

  • Gen 2:16–17, 3:8, 3:19, 4:4–8; Rom 5:12, 8:20–22; 1 Cor 15:21–22

  • All of mankind is guilty of sin, being inherently sinful because of Adam and individually sinful (by choice); thus, all of humanity is subject to God's wrath and condemnation.

  • 1 Kings 8:46; Isa 53:6; Psa 116:11; Prov 16:5; John 3:16–18, 12:48; Rom 3:23

  • All of mankind is made in God's image, yet are fallen; therefore, all humans miss the mark (God's standard for humanity) and are equally sinful and deserving of eternal punishment yet equally able to receive salvation in Christ.

  • Isa 53:6; John 12:32; Rom 3:23, 5:12; 2 Pet 3:9

Salvation

I KNOW THAT...

  • The doctrines of Creator and Creation and the gospel of Jesus Christ are intricately woven together and cannot be divorced from one another.

  • John 1:1–3, 1:14–18; Col 1:13–20

  • Salvation is by God's grace alone, a gift received by faith alone in Christ alone.

  • Eph 2:8–9; Titus 3:3–7

  • Freedom from the power and penalty of sin is available to man only through the sacrificial death and bloodshed of Jesus Christ and His complete bodily resurrection from the dead.

  • Luke 24:39; John 8:12, 8:36, 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Tim 2:3–6; 1 Pet 1:3

  • Those who are truly children of God have repented of their sins, recognized the death of Christ as the full payment of their sins, and have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

  • John 1:12–13; Acts 3:19, 16:31, 17:30–31, 20:21; Gal 2:20–21; 1 John 3:9

The Church

I KNOW THAT...

  • The Church of Jesus Christ made up of all who are united with Him in saving faith; they are members of the body of which He is the head.

  • John 3:16, 3:36, 11:25; Acts 16:30–31; Rom 10:8–10; Eph 5:23; Col 1:18

  • Christians are called to fellowship with a local Bible-believing church to unite in worship of the Triune God, play a role in the great commission, and sacrificially love one another with giving hearts.

  • Acts 20:7; 1 Cor 11:17–33, 16:2; Heb 10:23–25, 13:17

Christ's Second Coming

I KNOW THAT...

  • The Lord Jesus Christ will personally return in the flesh with glory to consummate His Kingdom and judge the living and the dead at His arrival.

  • John 6:39–40, 12:48; Acts 1:9–11; 1 Pet 4:5

  • Satan, the adversary of both God and humankind, will be exposed, judged, and thrown into the lake of fire, hell, where he will remain for eternity.

  • Matt 25:41; Rev 20:10

  • All will be raised from the dead: those who died in Christ will be raised and given eternal life in heaven, while those who have rejected Him will be raised and sent to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire called hell. Whoever does not believe in Christ will stand before God on Judgement Day to answer for every account of sin in his or her life because they do not have the Advocate. They rejected Jesus Christ and the gift of His Righteousness. Whoever believes in Christ will stand before God on Judgement Day to find the debts on their account paid off by Jesus Christ, the Advocate, and the gift of His Righteousness.

  • Dan 12:2; Matt 13:49–50, 25:41–46; Luke 12:5; 1 Cor 15:12–26; Rev 21:8

Foundations

I KNOW THAT...

  • The authority of biblical teaching is  undeniable in all aspects of life, especially in the realm of knowledge and truth; any refutation that attempts to divide what is secular and biblical (claiming religiosity) is heresy.

  • 1 Cor 10:31; Col 3:17

  • What is apparent, surveyed, or claimed in any field of study (science, history, government, anthropology, etc.) can only be valid if it harmonizes with the clear teaching of Scripture within its historical-grammatical context. Note: all evidence is subject to interpretation by fallible people who lack pieces of information because they are all void of the Omniscience of God.

  • Num 23:19; 2 Sam 22:31; Psa 18:30; Isa 46:9–10, 55:9; Rom 3:4; 2 Tim 3:16

  • Genesis contains the factual origins of the universe and actual events that provide a reliable framework for scientific research into the origin and history of life, mankind, the earth, and the universe.

  • Gen 1-11

  • All original life forms (kinds), including mankind, were made directly, supernaturally, and creatively by God and for God. In other words, original life forms did not appear through natural, physical processes over millions of years (see the Law of Conservation of Mass). The manifestation of more than one species of an original kind's descendant reflects the genetic potential within each original kind, with only limited biological changes (including mutational deterioration) occurring naturally within each kind since creation. In other words, one kind does not change into a different kind over time. *Kind here is traditionally defined by man as “species."

  • Gen 1:11–12, 1:21, 1:24–25, 30:37–42; 1 Cor 15:39

  • The famous great flood of Noah's age was an actual historical event that had worldwide repercussions. The flood covered the earth's entire surface; no land was exposed globally—most fossiliferous sediments were deposited at that time.

  • Gen 7:19–20; 2 Pet 3:5–7

  • Scripture tells us that the origin of man and creation is relatively recent, spanning approximately 4,000 years from genesis to Christ. In other words, the following theories that attempt to explain the events in Genesis as occurring over millions of years are irrefutably false: gap theory, progressive creation, evolutionary creation, day-age, theistic evolution, or any of the like.

  • Gen 5, 11; Matt 1; Luke 3:23-38
