In the book of Isaiah, Israel often sought support from Egypt & Assyria when they needed help. The prophet Isaiah denounced them for depending on human beings, governments, & nations rather than depending on the Lord (Is 30:18-33). Fast-forward to present-day...

When faced with a crisis, people still only consult with each other about what's going on & what to do. They rely heavily on the opinions of political figures & the elite ruling class instead of asking God or searching for answers in His Word. Why wouldn't you consult God, Who is above all human knowledge & understanding? After all, He is omnipotent, omnipresent, & all-knowing (Is 55:8-9).

Human pride never fails to thoroughly deceive us into thinking that we've discovered an answer that has yet to be tried & tested. Human pride keeps us from admitting that we can't solve things on our own. Most of all, human pride keeps us from acknowledging that we are the problem when we don't subject our lives to the will of God.

The enemy sends us on a wild goose chase by getting us willed up about surface-level issues that we fail to understand what the actual problem is underneath. To top it off, the enemy has caused individuals to rely so much on governmental policies that they don't even bother to pick up scripture.

People look to human government like it's their god. But the One true God established human government & the rule of law to keep in-check man's sinful nature & passions (Rom 13:1-4). Because of the Fall, human history reflects a continuing effort by men to substitute man-made law for God's Law.

God not only condemns those who blatantly fail to recognize their faulty logic & injustice of their sin but adds to them the charge of distrust for the removal of their loyalty to the Lord & transference of confidence in their own human flesh (Is 28:1-35:10).
