Dear God—Please bring swift justice, loving mercy, then blessing on America.
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Romans 1:18-21
As a nation, America has turned away from God and turned to worship sex, money, and power as its false idols. It's important to remember that America's founders were inspired by the Gospel and looked to the Bible for insight on civic virtue, human rights, social order, and political authority which are foundational to the notion of self-government. Gatherings, conventions, speeches, sermons, and papers provide evidence that our founders took principles, models, normative standards, and cultural motifs from the Bible and applied them to the nation they were building. The framework of a constitutional republic of checks and balances exists because of man's fallen nature which is told in Genesis, the first book of the Bible. Man's imperfect, easily corruptible, and fallen nature necessitates that power must be checked where it is given.
America is free because our founders were men who read the Word of God and decided to put Biblical Truth into practice. America's freedom, opportunity, and good gifts are proof that God exists. If we, as a collective nation, continue to reject God, use his good gifts for evil, and neglect to humble ourselves—God will judge America in the same way He has judged other nations in history.
Abba Father Lord God, Creator of heaven and earth. We are so blessed to be Americans and that your Word was the inspiration and rock for our foundational framework. You are the beloved source of our God-given Rights. We thank You for the men and women you have used throughout history, who devoted their lives, to ensure the many freedoms we have here in America—the freedom to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that so many people long for in other countries. On behalf of America, I ask Your forgiveness for the evil that has taken root among the harvest. The deceiver has convinced this prideful nation to worship created things rather than You, the Creator. We ask that you remind America of the value of human life, moral character, servitude, honest labor, virtue, and that all have been created equal. I ask that You help give sight to those blinded by hatred, hearing to those deaf to reason, and a voice to those muted by fear. May Your will, justice, and mercy, be swift and humbling so that afterwards we can confidently say "God bless America." I pray that Americans to the east and west develop childlike faith so that they will see You, run back to You, and love You through obedience and praise. We love You and we love this country. Whoever has ears, let them hear. Amen.
