Christians and Bible reading Christians are extremely different. The “Christian” in today’s world goes to church once a week but lives most of their time disconnected from God, Scripture, and a Biblical worldview. God only exists to them when they welcome His company—which more often than not results in a surface-level relationship with God that exists purely within a physical church building. On the other hand, Bible reading Christians hunger for conversations that are God-centered and for opportunities to talk about Jesus. This Christian lives life with a Biblical worldview, which means that they see everything through the lenses of Scripture. Being a child of God is believing and trusting that Jesus Christ, the Son, died in your place so that you can be free from the wrath of God and the judgment of sin. Many people will claim they are Christians but only correct and sincere belief produces a spiritual rebirth. This spiritual rebirth, the Holy Spirit, manifests itself within us through the joy and pleasure we have in being obedient to God (1 John 5). But how can we find joy and pleasure in our obedience to God if we never open our Bibles?
You can’t love God if you don’t know Him and you will never know who God is if you don’t read His Word in it’s true CONTEXT. You can listen to all the weekend services you want but until you decide to go all into the Bible, you will never be completely overcome by the Truth. No one gets excited to read the Bible until they start studying it. Those who have gone to the Word despite this feeling have become true Christians who can’t put their Bible down because they long to know more about the Triune God (the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit).
Society will claim I’ve been a Christian my whole life, but in reality, it’s been just a few years. Okay, wait what? How does that make sense you grew up in a Christian home, went to a Christian school, and go to church? It’s simple: I didn’t officially hand over my life to Christ until I decided I was tired of the empty promises the world offered. I started searching the Bible for answers to see for myself what God’s promises were and what they truly meant. When I lifted my eyes from the Bible’s pages I saw the world around me through different eyes. What I found was so much more than I could ever describe—a new life, perspective, salvation, hope, and love. The Word doesn’t just tell us about how amazing, wonderful, and just our God is but it’s also filled with the knowledge of history, science, literature, mathematics, architecture, engineering, prophecy, anthropology, politics, culture, you name it and it’s there. The Bible is the greatest love story ever told and is the key to the abundant Life.
